I’m finally starting something that I’ve wanted to do for a LONG time. I’m making newborn photo props! I’ve made a couple over the years, but given my bestseller is my Magikarp and I’ve been in school it’s been something that’s been on the back burner for sure.
More recently I made a witch’s hat and a Harry Potter Sorting hat and house scarves. I really like using Caron One Pound yarn for this. I know at the Jo Ann fabrics here the skeins run about $9.99 a piece, but they often have sales. If you have Prime on Amazon you can find some cheaper on there. It’s really just a matter of shopping around. It’s a super sturdy yarn, but softens up with washing. I crochet these a little tighter, with a smaller hook than required so they can stand on their own.
Now the next set I’m really proud of and excited about. I just started, so I only have two animals, but there are plenty more to come. I’ve named this first set my “Woodland Collection”. So far I have a hammock, a grey squirrel and a whitetail deer. I plan on making detachable antlers for the deer, but I haven’t quite finished that yet. After I finish with that I plan on adding a skunk, a fox and a wolf to the collection. I also have a “Farmyard Collection in the works. I’ve been using the same Homespun yarn from the hungry caterpillar for these and they are turning out so great, and super soft. Now I just need some newborn models! (If there are any photographers reading this, message me! I do have a photographer’s discount in my shop in exchange for photos!)
